Welcome Back Sign (2023)

Motivation:

A friend was coming back to MIT and I wanted to make a gift.

Description:

I used the handheld plasma cutter to make the letters and a MIG welder to put it together. I then used the angle grinder to take off the welds and an air sander to clean it up. I chose not to fully polish it because I felt that some of the scratches gave it character.

Lessons Learned:

There’s a reason the plasma cutter has a drag tip. Slow and steady wins the race.
