Stirling Engine (2022)
Motivation:
This is my Stirling engine built as part of the Papalardo apprenticeship program.
Description:
All parts were machined. The flywheel was turned on the lathe and then the spokes were made using a 2.5 axis prototrack mill. The etchings were all done using 3 axis prototrack mills. The marble is from a few slabs of tile and was waterjet and epoxied together.
Lessons Learned:
Verschlimmbesserung is the German word for trying to make things better but then making then only making things worse. In machining multiple parts of the Stirling engine, I experienced this. Ultimately, I am very happy with how this turned out.
