Seahawks Light (2021)
Motivation:
This was a Christmas present for my friend who is a huge Seahawks fan.
Description:
The logo is laser cut acrylic The two colors are different types of acrylic and are epoxy molded together. The wood work was done with a Dremel, finishing sander, drill, and jigsaw. The acrylic is set into the wood on a ledge created by the Dremel. The wood was stained and coated with an oil based finish. Attached to the back is a custom PCB that uses LEDs to light up the logo (not attached in upper image due to ordering delays). The PCB was an added component to the gift as my friend enjoys soldering.
Lessons Learned:
This was my first successful attempt at staining and finishing a woodworking project as well as my first attempt at using epoxy resin. I learned that epoxy peels off nicely from wax paper, but wood stain and resin soak through it.
